MEDIA RELEASE: "DEEP CLEANING" SHOWS DEEP FLAWS IN NHS 14 January 2008 Commenting on the growing opposition to the government’s £50m deep cleaning programme, Progressive Vision, the classical liberal think tank, has said that centralized decision-making in the health service must end. . Shane Frith, Director of Progressive Vision, said: “The government’s ridiculous deep cleaning programme shows just how deeply flawed the NHS really is. If ever there was a case for health care decisions to be decentralized, this is it. Grandiose government schemes for cleaning hospitals are inflexible, inefficient and wasteful. In every other field, cleaning is arranged, co-ordinated and financed at a local level. Hospitals should be no different” ENDS |
